Meet Jack… 7 days old and little brother to Olivia! I had the pleasure of photographing Olivia when she was only 10 days old and it was so much fun seeing her two years later and so grown up!
What I love about photographing babies and kids is that you can never ‘plan’ it to go the way you want. One of them will most likely decide that photos is not what they want to do that day, or at least not the way you want to. Olivia was more then happy to take photos of just her, playing in the rocking chair or playing with her ‘baby Jack’ (who happens to be a doll)… but when it came to photos with her little brother she really couldn’t have been bothered.
The key is not to let it bother you… just keep shooting and doing other things then acknowledging that they are not doing what you want (well that is for the 2 year olds :–) Then they realize no one cares what they are doing and actually want to participate in what you’re doing. Another good one is to let them come see the picture after I take it… always seems to make them smile and want to do another one.
