After several emails and timing issues, we were finally able to meet!
I was introduced to everyone in the family, but when it came to Kevin I’m told “this is our heart baby”. Kevin is now 10 years old and has suffered from Congenital Heart Disease which was further diagnosed as Aortic Stenosis. He has gone through several surgeries, one of which last 8 hours taking a long time to recover from, but making him so much stronger today! He is not out of the woods yet and will most likely undergo a few more surgeries – to celebrate each day, each birthday is an understatement for this family!
With that said, I don’t think there was one minute of our session that we even thought about how much this family has been through. We laughed the entire time! There was so much love for one another, love for life between them all – it was simply fantastic to be a part of for the afternoon. I was told that in the 14 years they have been together, they have never had family photos done. With four children and a single family income it just wasn’t an option. I am so excited to have been able to give this gift!
I really am humbled to be in the presence of these families – families who have gone through or are going through so much – yet have the biggest smiles.
Here’s to Kevin and a healthy, long life ahead of him!
