How exciting is this!!! I received an inquiry in early December from a family who wanted to plan a gender reveal photo session. Now many of you may be asking – what does this mean? How does it work? Who is finding out???
The Anderson family are waiting to meet their forth child and are soooo excited to find out if this one is a boy or a girl. They found out the results during an ultrasound – but instead of being told right then, they asked their doctor to NOT tell them and to simply write the results down and mail it to their home. They received the envelope shortly after and it sat at their home for 10 weeks un opened!!! CRAZY I know. How many people would have the ability to not open that envelope to take a peek? Not sure I could! The reason they did this is they wanted to all find out together and not just in a doctor’s office. They wanted the kids involved and for everyone to be excited together. I loved the idea!
So after some thought we had a plan mapped out. It was calling for snow so we were hoping… but that didn’t work. Then on the day of the shoot it was freezing cold, pouring rain and windy….great right?? Not ideal, but I was determined to make this a great session and suggested a good covered spot near by.
The special envelope was then sent to a local party store and handed to the staff with instructions to only open it once they left. Then the staff were to fill the box (they were provided) with the gender colour blue or pink for what ever the results said… sealed back up and ready for pick up. Just before the session they went to grab the box. SOOO fun.
We did a few family photos first and some of the kids – some of Mom and Dad and then we also incorporated a little video! I am really new to this and something I want to get doing more, so I asked if they wanted to try it out. I know that I need to invest some audio equipment – sorry if it’s hard to hear some of the voices!! I thought that this session would have so much emotion that a still photo will miss so hoped it would turn out!! I’m really excited to share this with you all now as I had to wait for the holidays. This video was given to their extended family to watch and find out all together as well over the holidays! I feel so privileged to have been a part of this big plan and a part of something so special for this awesome family.
