A few months ago I was contacted by Herika who was so very excited to capture images of her immediate family, but also include her parents!
Of course I say this all the time… that we take for granted that our loved ones will be around, and that we’ll ‘get that photo’ done eventually. If your family lives close by, this is most often what I hear from people. BUT when your family lives thousands of miles away, in another country – it’s not everyday that you can get together for that quality, memory making time!
I loved that when Herika’s son was first born her mother moved in for several months to help and spend time with her grandson. Once she left and was back home, they continued to build a relationship with their grandson by using Skype on a daily basis. He is now 2 years old and had only known them from the computer screen. I can only imagine the excitement he felt when he got to see them for the first time in person and run to give them a big hug! They spent a month together here in BC, but again they have gone back home – to continue their visits through Skype until their next visit.
Although your families may not live in another country – I really hope you all take the time to capture these kinds of moments/memories together!
